Suspected Poacher Reportedly Killed by Elephant Then Eaten by Lions in South African Park
"Indications found at the scene suggested that a pride of lions had devoured the remains leaving only a human skull and a pair of pants.
The animal residents of Kruger National Park in South Africa reportedly meted out their own kind of justice.
According to BBC, a suspected rhino poacher died at the park after allegedly being trampled on by an elephant and then eaten by lions.
A group of men looking to hunt rhinos entered the park on April 1, Police brigadier Leonard Hlathi told the The Guardian. One of these men was allegedly trampled to death by an elephant that suddenly attacked the group.
“His accomplices claimed to have carried his body to the road so that passersby could find it in the morning,” Hlathi added. “They then vanished from the park.”
After leaving the park, the group reportedly called the family of the deceased man to tell them what happened, according to a statement from Kruger National Park.
